Bank Holiday Monday Blog Candy

You may remember a couple of weeks ago the lovely folks at the dot com gift shop sent me some scrummy card making kits, they have 3 kits in their range that you can see here

I have had a little play with some of the kits and these are some of the cards, there may be a couple more to show you tomorrow too ;o)
These ones were made with the flower power card kit

So enough waffle, fancy some candy???

I have up for grabs, a complete and unopened playtime cards kit worth £6.95 PLUS as its bank holiday and I am feeling in a giving mood, you can have the remainders of the other 2 kits too, i have made 2 cards from the flower power kit and 3 cards from the monsoon cards kit so there is enough for at least 7 cards but you get lots of bits in the boxes so if you have some spare card blanks you could make more!!!

These are the goodies left in the flower power kit (above)

and these are the 2 kits together and what is left in the monsoon kit
so to summerise there is one new kit and as a brucy bonus 2 kits with less than half used!

And what do you have to do for this candy?
Firstly link this candy on your blog, then leave a comment saying what you love most on in the dot com gift shop

My fave thing at the mo is this recipe box!

candy closes next monday 6th September at 6pm

enjoy x L

Sunday Shape of the Week Challenge - Scalloped Circle

Welcome to Shape of the Week Sunday!

I decided to set a Die Cutting based challenge on my blog every week, as there does not seem to be many die cutting challenges about so i thought this may inspire people!!

So my challenge to you is to make a card using a die of a scalloped circle - there are tons out there and i think it is a popular die!!

The die i have used is a Nestabilities die

You dont have to use the same die but your project must include a die cut Scalloped Circle and not a pre-made embellishment.

You do not have to make a card, it could be anything!

These 2 cards were made for a pair of Puppies that my friend had brought toys for and wanted a little card to go with them!

If you do enter, please do tell your blog readers about the challenge too and link back xxx thanks

Tutorial & Sandwich for Using Embossing Folders (Papermania, Sizzix, Cuttlebug, Crafts Too etc in the Cuttlebug Machine

This tutorial is for Cuttlebug users and uses the plates that should come with your machine to emboss all brands of embossing folders
You will need:
Cuttlebug Machine
A Plate
2x B Plate
Embossing Folder
Card / Paper

The sandwich is as follows (from bottom to top - as you would build it)

A Plate

Add B Plate

You then need to place you card or paper in your embossing folder, which way up you place your card in the folder depends on wether you will get an embossed or debossed image. The general rule is that if you have the logo of the folder facing up and the front of your card facing up then you will get an embossed image but there are a couple of exceptions to this, there is a cuttlebug winter words folder that only debosses!

pop your embossing folder with card inside onto the sandwich

Add the other B Plate - and make sure that all layers are in line with each other like in the pic below

Sandwich re-cap (starting from the bottom)

~ A Plate
~ B Plate
~ Embossing folder with your card inside it
~ B Plate

This is now ready to go through your machine
This is just a little snapshot of a finished embossed piece of card

Friday Shopping..... Saturday Putting Away!!

Yesterday I popped to Hobbycraft and The Range, it will be my last big shopping trip for a while now as i am back at work on Wednesday :o(
First up are the offerings from the range, i was shopping with christmas in mind :o)

I don't think my blog readers know that i love bingo! I go every Thursday with some girls from work, and sometimes we can be a little bit lucky! So for Christmas i am making a little bingo theamed hamper for them, which will include their own bingo board! - 99p from the range, you could also make a nice magnetic shopping list holder from these and the jotters below!

Next up are these Coasters that i plan to alter, there were 6 in a pack for 99p from the range, but i may alter them in sets of 4 not decided yet!!

I have been looking for the perfect jotters for ages to tart up and make in to little stocking fillers and there are great! the large ones were 79p for 4 and the mini ones were 59p for 4

These chipboard flowers were a super bargain! there are 5 in a pack and they are a decent size - approx 2" and really chunky! they were 99p a pack! I thought they would be great for an emergency embellie!

Next up is Chrsitmas ribbon, its quite hard to find in my kind of christmas colours so i grabbed these at 99p per Roll

Last up from the Range is Wiggly Eyes, i don't use them all the time but they are handy to keep in the craft room and a bargain at 99p for all those different sizes!

Next up is my visit to hobbycraft - i really went for the foam in yesterdays post for any of my readers who have had trouble getting any but a few other things fell in like the to-die-for paper above, its a new Bazzil 12x12 with a clear embossed finish and the cupcakes were super shiny! it was dear at £1.49 (i think) a sheet but i will get about 5 cards out of it so not so bad!

These little buckets were reduced to half price, they were 79p they had some smaller ones for 59p i think but these looked a better size for a mini pampering bucket or treat bucket

Well thats it for the shopping, i will pop back later with another tutorial

Happy Anniversary Card for an Aunty and Uncle

Quite a simple card but very me!!

Main Letters are die cut and the anniversary letters are rub ons, the punch used was from Fiskars and the hear embellishment was from a K & Co pack and seemed to fit the bill!!

Update on yesterdays post, i am going to hobbycraft to see if i can get anyone some foam, i have had a lot of people saying they can't get to a hobbycraft so will do my best, but there may be a limit to the number of sheets!!

Trouble Storing Nestabilities Dies? :: Check Out My New Storage Idea...

The pic above shows how i used to store my Nestabilities, in a CD wallet, this was of storing them was ok, but had 2 problems. Number one some of the newer lables dies were too big for the CD wallet

Number two, the magnet i had them stored on was magnetic paper, so if you tried to take the sheet of dies out the paper would bend and they would end up on the floor!!

Introducing Magnetic Foam Sheet from Hobbycraft - this is on a FAB offer at the mo, it is £1 for 3 sheets, what a total bargain!! If you do decide to get some, get a couple of extra sheets as i have some projects coming up using this fabby stuff!!

So.... What i have done is popped my biggest die on a sheet and cut a square / rectangle around it then popped the other dies on... I am getting 3-4 squares per sheet... i am not finished yet mind you... i have 3 D wallets of dies!!!

I had pink and putple to store my dies and some other shades for some projects!!

To finish off i have labled the back, i had them labled in the CD wallet as it makes it easier when making a project to tell you guys what set i have used!
And i got this little CD box for 1.29 to pop them all in!

Ta daa!! Hoping this inspires some people as i kow storing these can be a challenge!!!
